For sale is a 1960s TAMMY DOLL RECORD PLAYER ASSESSORY from the ideal toy company. The plastic is in great condition with a felt cover turn style and tethered speaker. The bottom is stamped “JAPAN” which is where Tammy dolls were manufactured. The toy is scaled so the record player has the right proportions to match for use by the 12 inch tall doll. Given that record players are no longer a thing, this is now a great nostalgic item for a doll house.

In 1962, The Ideal Toy Company started selling the Tammy doll to compete with Mattel’s Barbie doll. Tammy, like Barbie, had a variety of separately sold ensembles and accessories. Ideal also offered companions and siblings for Tammy to play with, just as Barbie had Midge, Skipper, and Ken. Tammy dolls were not as successful as the Barbie toy line. Tammy was produced in three versions: the first with straight legs, the second released in 1964 with bendable legs, and the final version released in 1965 was an older-looking doll titled “Grown Up Tammy”. The company stopped selling the doll by 1966.
