For sale is a vintage mid-century ROBINSON RANSBOTTOM BLUE CROWN No. 2 CROCK made by Robinson Ransbottom, Roseville, Ohio. This large crock has the company’s iconic stenciled crown emblem. This cream brown pottery stoneware pot is in excellent condition with minor wear. The number painted on the crock in the crown indicates this is a two gallon size crock. Stoneware jar stands 9 inches tall with a 9 3/4 inches diameter. A great collectible jar for use as a planter or an umbrella stand.

Most stoneware in the U.S. was imported from Europe until the end of the American Revolution. American potters started making their own stoneware crocks. New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania were the first states to start making stoneware. The cylinder shape of crocks wasn’t mainstream until about 1860. In 1920, Ransbottom Brothers Pottery merged with Robinson Clay Products to create Robinson-Ransbottom Pottery. They are best known for their cobalt blue crown mark.
