For sale is an amazing original 1937 COCA COLA WESTINGHOUSE JUNIOR COOLER made by the Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Company, Chicopee Falls, Mass. This restored Coca Cola Ice Chest is in overall excellent condition and looks great from all angles. The lid handle and rubber seals under the lid are new replacement parts. Both long sides of the cooler has the following embossed text: “DRINK COCA COLA – ICE COLD”. Both short sides of the cooler has the following embossed text: “DRINK COCA COLA”. The cooler has the coca cola STARR X Patented 1925 Bottle Opener from the Brown Company. The rubber insulation on the bottom of the cooler is newly applied. The lid of the cooler has a few small holes from rust. The cooler is mounted on four wheels which are not original to the cooler. At the bottom of the cooler, the cooler still has the original brass Westinghouse maker’s tag which is marked “37” which probably indicates a 1937 manufacture date. The cooler has a galvanized steel tank which is designed to hold 51 bottles and 40 pounds of ice. The tank has a drain which can be unscrewed at the bottom to let out water. Underneath the cooler is storage space to hold wooden crates of coca cola bottles. This heavy duty cooler itself measures about 37” tall, 27″ wide, 17 ¾” deep.  A rare coca cola collectible.

Starting in 1935, Westinghouse produced chest-type Coca-Cola coolers for grocery stores and gas stations. These self-service coolers were available in different sizes and featured classic solid red exteriors with embossed Coca-Cola lettering. The Westinghouse Junior chest cooler was only produced for seven years. Before WWII, these coolers were a common sight in small grocery stores, gas stations, and other commercial locations. After WWII these coolers were gradually replaced by coolers with coin-operated tops to function as vending machines.
