For sale is a 1957 MOUNT VERNON HIGH SCHOOL YEARBOOK entitled The Surveyor from Alexandria, Virginia. This 175-page hard cover yearbook is on very good condition and is personalized with handwritten notes from the owner’s classmates. The owner and 1957 graduate was Allan Blaisdell who was the first Mount Vernon graduate to be accepted to the U.S. Air Force Academy. The yearbook includes an original senior prom photo taped to the page highlighting the Senior Barbara Moore, who was crowned “Miss Mt. Vernon”. The photo is the yearbook owner, Allan and his date, Barbara to the big dance. Barbara was not only “Miss Mt. Vernon” but also the school’s Majorette. She crafted a lengthy note well written note encourage to make big plans and aim high. The best part of the yearbook are the senior quotes. Allan’s senior quote was “I came, I saw, and now I’m leaving”. Kenneth Rexrode’s senior quote is “I think I will not hang myself today.” Lighten up Kenneth. Yearbook provides great insight on life as a 1950s high school kid. A fun 1950s collectible.

Allan made a career of the Air Force. In 1982, he held the rank of Colonel and was the commanding officer of the 5th Bomb Wing, Minot AFB, North Dakota. Not a popular assignment for airmen. Why not Minot? Freezing’s the Reason.
