For sale is a vintage 1940s TALLEST MAN GILBERT REICHERT CIRCUS SOUVENIR RING. This vintage souvenir giant ring would have been sold at a circus sideshow act featuring giant Gilbert Reichert, the Tallest Man in the World. Tall Men Circus Performers would frequently sell these pitch items off their own fingers after a show. Heavy metal ring measures roughly 1 1/4 inches across. A first rate circus collectible.

In 1952, Gilbert Reichert claimed to be the world’s tallest man. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio between 1913 and 1915. Gilbert Reichert made a living as a tall man circus and carnival act for about 15 years. He was billed as “The Motion Picture Giant” due to his appearance in Cecil B. DeMille’s 1952 production of “The Greatest Show on Earth” which cast many of the actual circus performers at the time. In 1953, after the birth of his third child he announced his “carny life is over for good” as “it’s not life for a family man”. After retiring from showbusiness, he became a salesman for a shoe company and a car company but still had occasional stints as a “giant”.
