For sale is a VINTAGE METAL TOY STOVE by the Hubley Manufacturing Company, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. This stove is in very good condition and rust free and was probably made during the 1920s or 1930s. Every surface of the stove is wonderfully ornate. It looks great from every angle. The stove has for lid covers and coal bucket to sit on top. The front oven door is embossed with the word “EAGLE”. The back of the stove is marked “Lancaster Brand”. This stove has been restored. Two of the circular stove lids are replacement parts and not original parts. The stove pipe is also not original to the stove. The shelf that sits on top of the stove has some minor damage in that one of the 1/4 inch tabs that drops into the stovetop is broken off. This damage is not noticeable when the stove is assembled. Sale of the toy includes the coal bucket and coal shovel. Front door of the oven swings open. The stove measures about 9 1/2 inches tall, 8 1/4 inches wide, and 5 1/2 inches deep. Cooktop surface measures 8 1/2 inches by 6 inches. Some of the stove parts and accessories are stamped with numbers. A great vintage collectible toy.
In 1894, John Hubley incorporated the Hubley Manufacturing Company in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. In 1909, the first Hubley toys appeared and were made of cast-iron, with themes that ranged from horse-drawn vehicles and different breeds of dogs, to tractors, steam shovels and guns. Early Hubley toys were known for their complexity. Hubley’s line of Eagle toy stoves offered more sizes and types of stoves than other toy company’s, including Hubley’s main competitor, Arcade.
