For sale is two different 8 mm movie reels of ICONIC HEAVYWEIGHT BOXING FIGHTS from Castle Films. One film reel entitled FAMOUS FIGHTS has the following fights: (1) Valdes vs Jackson; (2) Moore vs Johnson; (3) Slade vs Patterson; and (4) Rocky Marciano vs Joe Louis. The other reel entitled HIGHLIGHTS OF FAMOUS FIGHTS has the following fights: (1) Joe Louis vs. Max Baer (1935); (2) Joe Louis vs. Tommy Farr (1937). The 8 mm boxes are in excellent condition and features great images from these iconic boxing match. Movie reels appear playable but is untested. Both reels were produced and sold in the early 1970s. A great sports collectible for viewing or to display in your man cave.
These reels have three different Joe Louis fights. Joseph Louis Barrow competed as a professional boxer from 1934 to 1951. Nicknamed the Brown Bomber, Louis is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential boxers of all time. He reigned as the world heavyweight champion from 1937 until his temporary retirement in 1949. He was victorious in 25 consecutive title defenses, a record for all weight classes. Louis had the longest single reign as champion of any boxer in history. Joe Louis had only three losses in his 69 professional fights. He tallied 52 knockouts. After returning from retirement, Louis failed to regain the championship in 1950, and his career ended after he was knocked out by Rocky Marciano in 1951.
