For sale is an original 1952 collection of three different ADLAI STEVENSON PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN collectibles. One is a Stevenson lapel tab. The other two are pinbacks. One is a “Stevenson and Sparkman” button and the other is a “Stevenson” button. A great set of a political collectibles.
The 1952 United States presidential election ended with Republican Dwight D. Eisenhower winning on a landslide victory over Democrat Adlai Stevenson, which ended 20 years of Democratic rule that stretched back to 1932. Eisenhower retained his enormous popularity from the war, as was seen in his campaign slogan, “I Like Ike.” Eisenhower’s popularity and Truman’s unpopularity led to a Republican victory, with Eisenhower winning every state outside of the South. Ike ran with Richard Nixon as his running mate. Ike’s opponent, Adlai Stevenson’s running mate was John Sparkman.
Adlai Stevenson II was an American politician and diplomat who was twice the Democratic nominee for President of the United States. He was the grandson of Adlai Stevenson I, the 23rd vice president of the United States. He served in numerous positions in the federal government during the 1930s and 1940s, including the Agricultural Adjustment Administration, Federal Alcohol Administration, Department of the Navy, and the State Department. In 1945, he served on the committee that created the United Nations, and he was a member of the initial U.S. delegations to the UN. In the 1952 and 1956 presidential elections, he was defeated in a landslide by Republican Dwight D. Eisenhower both times
