For sale is a mid-century GERMAN SKI RESORT ENAMEL PIN. This pin is in excellent condition with a functional pin. The pin measures 7/8 inches diameter. The features the following text: “ZUGSPITZ 2966” which is the name and height of Germany’s highest peak.

The Zugspitze, at 2,962 meters (9,718 feet) above sea level, is the highest mountain in Germany. The pin’s 2966 may be an exaggeration or perhaps the mountain is shrinking due to climate change. The peak lies south of the town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and the Austria–Germany border runs over its western summit. The town hosted the 1936 Winter Olympic Games, the first to include alpine skiing, and hosts a variety of winter sports competitions. South of the mountain is the Zugspitzplatt, a high karst plateau with numerous caves. Resting at the foot of the Zugspitze, Edelweiss Lodge and Resort is a vacation destination for military personnel and their families.
