During the 1980s, a husband and wife, Peter and Ande Rooney started making reproductions of antique advertising signs. Ande who had a background in graphic design managed the artist design of the signs while Peter ran the business. By 2009, Ande developed 300 different styles of vintage signs.

Starting in 1927, Frank Phillips founded Phillips 66 Aviation to sell fuel and lubrication products. During WWII, he pioneered high-octane fuels for planes. In 1961, he sold the first jet fuel anti-icing additive. The company hired early corporate pilot Billy Parker and sponsored pioneer pilot Wiley Post, who discovered the jet stream using Phillips fuel.
