For sale is a heavy and large antique THOMAS MORTON MERCANTILE BRASS HANGING SCALE from New York City. This 120-pound capacity Iron Clad Spring Scale with a shiny brass gauge and maker’s mark. This warranted scale measures approximately 20 inches long and 3″ wide. Accuracy is unknown but scale still works as intended. Hanging scales of this size are hard to come by.  A must have for any vintage scale collector.

In 1841, Thomas Morton and Andrew Augustus Bremner, both of New York, started making spring balances and weighing devices. In 1855, Bremner left the firm.
