For sale is an early 1900s WALTING GUESS YOUR WEIGHT PENNY COIN OP SCALE
Produced by the Watling Manufacturing Company, Chicago, Illinois. This heavy scale was designed so that the user can try to guess his or her weight by correctly pre-dialing the weight. If you guessed your weight correctly you would get your penny back. This very rare non-functioning scale has most of its original mechanical parts. The circular metal scale dial is covered with a glass lid with chicken wire embedded inside of the glass. The scale dial is marked with several patent dates with the most recent being April 14, 1903. The retro style circular tin motor oil sign on the front is not original to the scale. The scale metal body is rust free inside and out. This massive scale stands about six feet and one inch tall. The scale is about 21 inches wide. The scale and brass step plate combined are about 29 inches deep. The scale is not functional but has most of the parts to function as a scale.  The scales back panel that covers the mechanics is missing. The coin drop track and the parts of the scale related to the guess your weight function is mostly missing. This antique scale is an eye-popping museum
worthy display piece.
In 1896, the Watling Manufacturing Company started manufacturing scales. They released released 179 different machines.
