For sale is an early 1900s JOHN T. COLLIER & SON GLASS BOTTLE. This heavy clear glass bottle is embossed “Registered – John T. Collier & Son – This Bottle Not to be Sold”. Bottom of the bottle is marked “630”. The thickness of the bottle’s base is dramatically slanted due to a manufacturing defect. One side of the bottle about 1/4 inch thick with the other side over 1/2 inches thick. The bottle stands 7 3/4 inches tall. A decent collectible bottle or a fun gift to someone with the Collier family name.

Between the late 1800s and the 1930s, beverages were usually sold in bottle marked “Registered” and “Not To Be Sold”. When consumers purchased a beverage, they only owned the beverage but the bottle remained the property of the bottler. A cent or two deposit was usually charged on the bottle and was refunded when the bottle was returned.
