For sale is a 1961 SALESMAN’S SAMPLE CALENDAR BOOK made by the Superior Gift Line. These calendars were sold to businesses who would order them in bulk to hand out as advertisements. This book as 8 different style calendars including: a girl at church, a western cowgirl, a toddler sleeping, a nautical harbor scene, a mountain landscape, a young girl with baby chicks, a covered bridge, and a southern belle. The book is 10 pages in length. The display calendars are much larger then the ones sold to the business. A merchant had to buy a minimum of 100 calendars. This book measures about 19 inches by 11 inches. There are some surface stains and moisture damage to the outer covers but the calendars inside are in excellent condition. Each would frame nicely. An unusual collectible.

1961 was the start of the space race. On May 5th, 1961, the United States launches it’s first man in space, Alan Shepard on the Freedom 7. That same year, President Kennedy asks Congress for $531 million to put a man on the moon before the end of the decade.
