For sale is a vintage 1954 HUBLEY TOY DIESEL STEAM ROLLER Model 480 from Lancaster, PA. The interior of the toy is marked “Hubley Kiddie Toy – Made in USA – Lancaster PA – 480”. The toy construction vehicle is in great condition with original paint. The front wheel is steerable. The steam roller measures approximately 10 inches long, by 3 1/2 inches tall, and 3 3/4 inches wide. A terrific collectible toy from an iconic American toy company.
In 1894, John Hubley founded The Hubley Manufacturing Company in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. In 1909, the company starting making cast-iron toys, with themes that ranged from horse-drawn vehicles and different breeds of dogs, to tractors, steam shovels and guns.
