For sale is a 1950s MARX US ARMY HEADQUARTERS TRAINING CENTER Model T3-21 made by the Louis MARX toy company. This military themed lithographic toy is in very good condition with vivid color and a small amount of spot rust. The sale includes a green plastic toy desk with a typewriter on top of the desk. This desk was sold as one of the accessories which was included with the purchase of the Marx HQ Training Center. As you would expect, the Training Center accessories are significantly harder to find then the Training Center building. On the interior of the model training center the graphics on the wall include a Manning Status board, mail box slots, a fire extinguisher and a calendar. The graphics are very detailed. For example, on the manning status board, a soldier from Company A is marked as “AWOL” which stands for Absence Without Leave. More disturbing is the fact that all four Companies have personnel admitted to the hospital and there is a total of 16 soldiers on K.P. duty. In the Army, “KP duty” (Kitchen Police or Kitchen Patrol) refers to the task of assisting kitchen staff with cleaning and other support duties in dining facilities, such as mess halls. The toy measures about 11 inches long, 7 inches wide, and 5 1/4 inches tall. A great collectible Marx Toy.
Louis Marx founded the MARX toy company in 1919. By 1922, both Louis and his brother David Marx were millionaires. Unlike most companies, Marx’s revenues grew during the Great Depression. By the 1950s, Marx was the largest toy manufacturer in the world. Marx ceased its business in 1978.
