For sale is a 1934 U.S. GOVERNMENT “SELECTING HENS FOR EGG PRODUCTION” BULLETIN No. 1727 published by the Department of Agriculture. This illustrated government publication by J. P. Quinn, “Poultry Geneticist”.  This pamphlet sets the record straight on egg production. According to research there is no relationship between measuring the hen’s head and body and egg production. “A hen’s ability to lay eggs is determined by her breeding”. Follow the science people. This pamphlet includes quite a few pictures of the same man examining the hen’s pubic bones that may have sparked a hen “me too” backlash. The 14-page leaflet measures about 9 inches by 6 inches. The pamphlet originally sold for 5 cents. A bizarre farming related collectible.
