For sale is an antique 1930s MARX “Beat It” The KOMIKAL KOP Tin Wind Up CAR. This hilarious old Marx toy features a very serious looking police man behind the wheel of a black crazy car. The car’s front grill that reads “PD” and the hood reads “Traffic B”. The rear trunk features the Marx trademark and company address. The toy features a fixed windup key on the bottom. When wound, the car drives erratically forward, spin, then reverse and repeat all while the “Kop’s” head spins. This Komical Kop toy is in working condition but moves slowly. The face of the Kop is rusted a bit and one of the arms is broken loose. The plastic windshield is missing. The car measures about 8″ long, by 2-7/8″ wide, and 6-3/4″ tall. A great collectible Marx Tin Toy.
Louis Marx founded the MARX toy company in 1919. By 1922, both Louis and his brother David Marx were millionaires. Unlike most companies, Marx’s revenues grew during the Great Depression. By the 1950s, Marx was the largest toy manufacturer in the world. Marx ceased its business in 1978.
