For sale is a 1926 FIRST EDITION HARDCOVER CHILDREN’S BOOK “THE RAIN WAGON” written by Gertrude Crownfield and published Bouillon-Sanders & Chopp as part of the Swan Book Series. The book is illustrated by Anne Merriman Peck. This adorable and rare children’s book is about a young boy’s adventure out with the cloud people and his ride with the Rain Man in the Rain Wagon. The book is in very good condition but the original owner, Miss Daley Longfellow inscriber her name in the book. This 16-page book is playfully illustrated by Anne Merriman Peck, with color and/or black & white illustrations. The book measures 12 inches by 9 inches. A great collectible vintage children’s book.

Peck (1884-1976) was a writer, illustrator and artist. She worked as an artist and illustrator in New York, publishing in Harper’s Magazine and wrote and illustrated many children’s books. She moved to Tucson in 1948 and taught extension courses for the University of Arizona and was a founding member of the “261 Gallery” and a director of the Tucson Fine Arts Association.
