For sale is an original late 1800s STEEL SCREW CLAMP made by the P.S. & W. Company, Southington, Connecticut. This antique metal clamp is marked with an August 14, 1888 patent date. The embossed lettering has been painted with gold leaf. The clamp measures about 10 1/2 inches in length when fully open. Clamp is in excellent condition. A top notch collectible tool.
In 1870, the Peck, Stow & Wilcox (P.S. & W.) company was founded by merging three other tool manufacturers that specialized in tin-processing equipment. The P.S. & W. Factory complex was located west of the town center of Southington, Connecticut. By 1890 the company produced a diversified array of tools and was the town’s largest employer.
