For sale is a vintage RED COLEMAN LANTERN Model 200A with a single lite mantle and an original glass globe that’s etched with the Coleman Logo. The side of the base includes a Coleman logo. This complete lantern is in overall excellent condition. No defects to glass globe and base does not leak. The bottom of the base is marked “II” and a “71” which indicates a 1971 manufacture date. The Coleman Model 200A lantern was the immediate follower to Coleman’s 200 lantern, and was sold from 1951 to 1983. This sale includes the paperwork that came with the lantern and the original box. However, the box is is in poor condition. The lantern is untested. When the carry handle is fully extend the lantern measures about 19 inches tall from the base to the top of the handle. The diameter of the base is 6 inches. A great Americana collectible.
In 1914, the Coleman company started to manufacture a line of pressure lamps. Their original lamps were made to burn kerosene or gasoline. Current models use kerosene, gasoline, Coleman fuel (white gas) or propane and use one or two mantles to produce an intense white light.
