For sale is an antique HEYWOOD WAKEFIELD ECLIPSE PEDESTAL SCHOOL CHAIR. This chair probably dates to the 1920s. The wood chair seat and curved wood back have been restored. The metal pedestal has a screw to adjust the height of the chair and the chair was designed to be bolted to the floor. At the chair’s current height setting, the seat is 17 inches from the floor. The width of the seat is 16 1/4 inches. The depth of the seat is 13 1/2 inches. The top of the back is 31 inches above the floor. The pedestal has a brass maker’s mark which reads “Heywood Wakefield – Eclipse”. This antique school chair looks great from all angles.
In 1897, the Heywood Brothers & Wakefield Company was established to manufacture furniture. In 1921, this name was changed to Heywood-Wakefield Company.
