For sale is a working TRICK DOG & CIRCUS CLOWN MECHANICAL SAVINGS BANK. This metal bank is a reproduction of an iconic 1930s mechanical bank. The bank works by placing a coin in the dog’s mouth and depressing the lever at the side which causes the dog to jump through the hoop and deposit a coin in the barrel. The colorful bank is in great condition with a few minor paint chips. Bank measures about 7 1/4 inches tall, 8 1/2 inches long, and 2 3/4 inches wide. A fun collectible mechanical toy bank.
The original Trick Dog Bank was manufactured by Hubley Mfg Co., Lancaster, Pa. The company patented the bank design on July 31, 1888. Hubley produced the solid-base “Trick Dog” bank over a period of approximately thirty years. Hubley produced mechanical banks until World War II.
