For sale is a vintage HARTZ MOUNTAIN MY-T-MITE POWDER BIRD WASH TIN from Hartz Mountain Products, NY, NY. This reddish-orange lithograph tin features a bright graphic of a yellow canary. This 3/4 ounce size tin is in good condition but the cap is rusted shut and the tin has surface wear. My favorite part of the the tin is cautionary warning under the use directions: “IMPORTANT: Do not squeeze bird’s body.” This bird lice removal treatment originally sold for 25 cents. The tin measures 3 3/4 inches tall and 2 1/4 inches wide. The tine is believed to date to

In 1926, Max and Gustav Stern emigrated from Germany to the United States with five thousand singing Harz Roller canaries. In 1932, they began manufacturing bird food under the Hartz Mountain brand.
