For sale is a framed and matted paper print of early 1900s photograph of the bustling Main Street, Mariposa, California. This cool picture features what appears to be a couple Model T cars parked along the main street store fronts which include a soda fountain and meat market. The frame is brand new and measures 12 inches by 10 inches. A great decoration item for your vintage decor.
Mariposa was founded as a mining camp in the 1800s. After an 1850 flood the town moved about six miles to its present day location. Due to the presence of Mariposa creek, Mariposa became a large producer of placer gold. The large Mariposa mine included a 40-foot waterwheel that crushed gold ore. Mariposa soon became the supply hub for hundreds of outlying mining districts.
