For sale is a FIREMAN BADGE from the WARRENTON VIRGINIA FIRE DEPARTMENT. This badge is in excellent condition. Badge measures 1 1/2 inches tall by 1 inch wide. A nice fire fighter collectible that displays well.
Fire and Rescue Services for residents of the Town of Warrenton are provided by the Warrenton Volunteer Fire Company (WVFC). WVFC is a volunteer organization and has been a part of the community since 1872. The Town employs two full-time firefighters. The badge for sale is numbered “66”. Some fire departments issue a number to each of their firefighters. The number may or may not have some relation to your position in the department.
Fire departments operate as a regimented and hierarchical group. Firefighter badges help identify a fireman’s position (chief, captain, firefighter, etc.) but also their battalion and company or other organizational information. This serves a useful purpose while the men are working to identify them as firefighters and also help in the event of catastrophe to identify remains so that the fallen can be properly honored.
