The Gilchrist Company made ice cream scoops from 1906 until 1931. The company originally made hardware items for soda fountains before becoming the dominant maker of ice cream scoops. The Gilchrist MODEL 30 was the only squeeze handle type scoop offered by Gilchrist and was sold in sizes 6, 8, 10, 12, 16, 20, 30, and 40. The smaller number is the larger size scoop and the number represents the number of level scoops in order to have a quart of ice cream.
