For sale is a 1950s DIPSY DOODLE BUG & DODG’EM BUMPER CARS WIND UP TOY made by the Louis MARX toy company. This amusement park themed lithographic have functioning windup mechanisms but the cars move slowly.  The condition of the graphics are in great condition. The bumper cars feature drivers Dan and Dora. Each of the figure’s heads are designed to pop off and wobble when the cars wind down.  Each car is marked with the Marx Toy logo. The spring holding up the heads are worn such the heads no longer set well on the neck. The sale includes the toy’s tin lithographic base used to display the set of cars. The base measures about 10 inches square. Each of the bumper cars measures about 6 inches long. A first rate collectible Marx Toy.

Louis Marx founded the MARX toy company in 1919. By 1922, both Louis and his brother David Marx were millionaires. Unlike most companies, Marx’s revenues grew during the Great Depression. By the 1950s, Marx was the largest toy manufacturer in the world. Marx ceased its business in 1978.
