For sale is a vintage 1940s wooded WBZ RADIO CIGAR BOX with a hinged lid. The inside lid of the box features graphics of radio broadcasting towers and the slogan “POPULAR EVERYWHERE”. This box has fine dovetailed joints and a metal lid latch. The box measures about 7 1/2 inches, by 6 inches, by 3 1/2 inches. This box is believed to date to the 1930s when the popularity of radio was at its zenith. Box is in great condition and lid has a snug fit. A great cigar box for your tobacciana collectible.

On September 15, 1921, the U.S. Department of Commerce granted WBZ its first license. The radio station was originally located in Springfield, Massachusetts, before moving to Boston in 1931. It is the oldest broadcasting station in New England, and one of the oldest in the United States.
