For sale is a 1940s WHEARY SIDE SADDLE LEATHER SUITCASE from Wheary Inc, Racine, Wisconsin. This lockable suitcase includes one Corbin D5 key. The interior of the suitcase has a salmon colored interior. The suitcase has a clear carry handle with the company name on the handle. This stylish suitcase is in overall good condition with working latches and lock. The leather sides has wear consistent with its use. The seam on on one of the leather ends is staring to separate from the seam. Sale includes a vintage coat hanger which is not believed to be original to the suitcase. The overall structural condition of the suitcase is very good. The exterior measures approximately 21 inches long, 14 inches wide, and 6 1/2 inches deep. You won’t have any trouble spotting this suitcase on the airport conveyor belt.

In 1862, Joseph S. Hartmann emigrated to the U.S. from Germany. In 1889, he founded the the Hartmann Trunk Company in Racine, Wisconsin. In 1902, George. H. Wheary became associated with the company as a designer. Later, George founded his own company in Racine called The Wheary Trunk Company. In 1922, he partnered with Harry Burge to form Wheary, Incorporated. To came full circles, in 1955, this company was sold to the Hartmann Trunk Company back to where George learned his craft.
