For sale is a pre-civil war 1848 FREIGHT BILL from the McKAIG & MAGUIRE Forwarding and Commission Merchants. Cumberland, Maryland. The letterhead features incredible graphics of horse drawn wagon and steam locomotive engine. The receipt documents that the company of Baker & Rodgers received a crate of scythes weighing 53 pounds in Bealtsville, PA on April 18, 1848. The shipping rate was 89 1/2 cents per 100 pounds of cargo. The receipt is in excellent condition and measures 9 1/2 inches by 7 1/2 inches. A first rate railroad collectible.
