In 1850, David Davis, Edward Howard, and Aaron Lufkin Dennison founded the Waltham Watch Company in Waltham, Mass. Waltham was known for its production of elaborately decorated, premium-priced pocket watch movements. Every Waltham pocket watch created after 1852 has a unique serial number engraved that can be used to date when the watch was made.
