For sale is a vintage 1940s wood BROOKS & CO’S TEBSON CORONA CIGAR BOX. The box features graphics on five exterior sides, dovetailed joints, and metal lid latch. Box includes a United States Internal Revenue Tax Stamp. The inside lid label reads “2 for 15 cents” with the company logo. The box measures about 7 inches, by 6 inches, by 3 1/4 inches. Box is in very good condition with minor wear consistent with its age. A good cigar box for your tobacciana collectible or vintage decor.
The style of stamp box on the cigar box for sale was used between 1942 and 1959. The Class D tax stamp on the box was used for cigars selling for “more than 6¢ but not more than 8¢” (2/15¢ cigars mostly). This box is believed to date to the 1940s.
