For sale is a collectible 100th Anniversary PILLSBURY’S Minneapolis, Minnesota “BEST” Flour Tin Canister. Pillsbury made this tin in 1982 with a retro design and graphics. This large tin stands about 8 inches tall and 6 inches diameter. Perfect size for a counter-top cookie jar. This tin has some minor surface wear to the top. However, this tin canister has crisp scratch free graphics. A great collectible from an iconic American company.
C.A. Pillsbury and Company was founded in 1872 by Charles Alfred Pillsbury and his uncle John S. Pillsbury. Pillsbury once claimed to have the largest grain mill in the world at the Pillsbury A-Mill overlooking Saint Anthony Falls on the Mississippi River in Minneapolis.
The building had two of the most powerful direct-drive waterwheels ever built, each putting out 1200 horsepower (900 kW).
This tin made in 1982 was intended to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the company. The tin prominently features its large Minneapolis grain mill was is now destined to be converted into a residential loft-style apartment building.
