For sale are two different 1930s HOFFMAN CAT STANDUP TRADE CARDS from a German company, Hoffman’s Starch Factories. These two mint advertising trade cards promoted the company’s rice starch. The back part of the cat folds out so you can stand him up. One card is a white cat with red eyes. The other is a brown cat. Each version was probably intended to represent the company’s white or brown rice produce. Each cat has sign strung around his neck that reads, “HOFFMANN’S Reis-Stärke mit der katze” (“Hoffmann’s rice starch, with the cat”). These paper diecut adverts are incredibly detailed and striking. Each cat stands about 3 inches tall. A great item for any cat enthusiast or someone who collects vintage adverts.
Hoffman’s was founded in 1850 to produce starch and food chemicals. The company ceased operations in 1990.
