For sale is a vintage BIG BOY SODA BOTTLE from Big Boy Beverages, Cleveland, Ohio. This clear glass quart size bottle has a red and white ACL label which features a graphic of a boy drinking a Big Boy soda through a straw. Bottle is in excellent condition with no cracks or flea bites. This large soda bottle stands about 12 inches tall. Large-format quart soda bottles with painted labels were widely popular during the late 1940s through the early 1960s as family-sized “take-home” containers. The bottom of the bottle is marked “76” which indicates a 1976 production date. The bottle also is marked with a “6” which indicates the bottle was made by the Glenshaw Glass Company plant out of Glenshaw, Pennsylvania (just north of Pittsburgh). A terrific soda bottle collectible.
Big Boy was known for classic fountain flavors, including standard Cola, Root Beer, Lemon-Lime, and a grapefruit drink option named “Rummy”. The Big Boy mascot features a young boy drinking through a straw. Although the Boy resembles the iconic checkered-overall mascot of the Big Boy Restaurant chain but the Big Boy beverage mascot predates the separate Big Boy restaurant franchise.
