For sale is an early 1900s MT HOOD ICE CREAM SERVING TRAY. This antique lithograph serving tray features a lady in an elegant Victorian dress enjoying a bowl of ice cream. The tray’s sides includes the following text: “EAT MT HOOD ICE CREAM” and the dubious claim “IT’S GOOD FOR YOU”. The tray’s illustration is in great condition with strong color but there are scratches and chips on the top outer perimeter. The tray measures 13 inches in diameter. Sale includes hanging spring which can be used to display the tray on a wall. A top notch ice cream advertising collectible.

During the 1700s, ice cream in America was a luxury item for the wealthy. During the mid-1800s, industrial production brought ice cream to the masses. In 1861, America’s oldest ice cream company, Bassetts Ice Cream, was established in Pennsylvania. Throughout the late 1800s, ice cream parlors and soda fountains became central to American social life.
