For sale is an ORIGINAL 1915 POSTCARD with a ONE CENT GEORGE WASHINGTON STAMP which was mailed to Mr. J. Miller, 7 Elm St, Cumberland, MD. This postcard was postmarked on July 30, 1915 in Thurmont, Maryland. The colored picture on the front makes a joke about this location having “good heads” with an illustration of a cabbage head and two bald old men. This postcards is a century old text message.
The text of the postcard reads: “Dear Father, I am having a fine time was out to Aunt Bell’s yesterday and stayed all night. We are going to a picnic Saturday. Tell Olive hello. Be sure & let me know about the excursion. Adelaide”.
The era between 1901 and 1915 is considered the Golden Age of Postcards, because in the United States alone, about one billion postcards were mailed each year.
